Difference between 2100 and 2200?

Hey guys,

I'm one of those guys who did poorly until Junior year, when I got a 4.2 (I know it's not as great as some of you guys on here, but I go to a really rigorous high school).

Anyways, I keep scoring between 2150 - 2270 on SAT practice tests. I'll be a senior in the fall and it's my last chance in October. Say if I score in the high 2100's, like 2180 or 2190, do colleges consider something like, say, a 2200/2210/2220 much better?

For some reason, it seems to be a whole different league when someone scores 2200+ when compared to scores in the 2100's. IDK, might just be me.

It's kind of like how a 2020 SAT seems a lot better than a 1990 when it really isn't much better, know what I mean?

Anyways, is a high 2100 score much different than a mid to low 2200 score? Do colleges consider 2200-2230 much more highly than a 2180 or so?

Honestly I don’t think so. I think the differences are simply what we perceive and that in reality there is no significant difference.

how do admission reps perceive it?

I think there is a bit of a difference but not too big. My sister got a 1980 on her SAT’s and if she had gotten just 40 points more, the 2020 would’ve looked a lot more impressive! Similarly, a 2200 will look, of course, a bit more impressive than a 2160 but a 2160 is still deemed to be a pretty good score.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much, anything above a 2100 is considered to be pretty great so you’re fine!

Looks are looks, and no one really knows what goes on inside admission officers’ heads. Not even them.

(Just kidding)
