Just got my scores back from the Jan SAT and I got 2250 (780CR 720M 750W), about what i expected... i'm registered for the March SAT but im not sure if its even worth taking. I think I can do better especially in math and writing (I ran out of time on the essay and only got a 9). On one hand I pretty much have nothing to lose but i also don't want to prep and take the test again if it isn't going to make a difference. I'm pretty confident that if I cram in the next few weeks and do a lot of practice math I can get my score into the low 2300s. But is it really worth it for a difference of 50-70 points in total? Is this going to make a difference or is it basically negligible?

Probably won't be too much of a difference.. also depends on what schools you want to apply to. If you think you can improve by a lot, then go for it. Otherwise, if you don't think it's worth it, then your score should be fine.

PS - how do you know your essay score already??

There's a huge difference between a 720 CR and a 780 CR
but there's almost no difference between a 770 math and a 720 math (2 questions....).
So unless you are confident of increasing ALL 3 sections, don't retake...

Retake a 2250. I got that score my first test and regret not taking it over. There is no difference between a 2350 and a 2400. Retaking that is a waste of time.

It would not hurt to raise you math score, but getting a 2300 compared to a 2250 is not going to make or break you in the college admissions process. If you feel like you can raise it, then go for it. Otherwise, don't feel like you need to raise it.
