Difference between a 740 and 750

Hey Guys. I wanted your feedback on the difference between a 740 and 750 if there is one. I got a 740 on math 2c and wanted to know if it made a huge difference if I got the score I was aiming for - 750. 750 looks nice to me, but does it really make a difference in admissions?

It should not make much of a difference. 10 points can really come down to luck. The only time it ever really could make a difference is if you were up against a kid for a spot and you literally had IDENTICALLY impressive apps and one of you had the 740 and the other the 750. But really, 10 points on one subject test is almost negligible in the grand scheme of things.

UNLESS you think you can bump your score up by far more than 10 points, don’t sweat it and don’t retake. Testing a zillion times makes you look neurotic and I’m sure that there are other, better places for you to invest your money, time, effort, and energy than into a subject test in the hopes of gaining 10 points.

Good luck–and a 740 is fantastic! What schools are you looking at?

10 points is nearly negligible. Focus your time on benefiting other aspects of your college app

haha thanks for the reassurance. H0pp3r, I am doing a lot right now to get my app to shape ( I already have my internship(s), programs, volunteer work at the hospital, president of the club) set up, but now working on College Apps.

Anonymous? Most likely UC’s and some privates (most of the ones that I like are tough =).

It might matter if one of the schools you are interested in is Harvey Mudd. Their $40,000 merit awards used to be given to students who met certain criteria, including a 750 on the Math II, a 750 on the SAT math, a 700 on the SAT CR, and a 700 on the SAT Writing. See [Financial Aid](http://www.hmc.edu/academicsclinicresearch/catalogue1/catalogue07081/applicantinfo1/financialaid.html). I don’t know if that is still the case – if you are interested in the school you should find out though and retake if necessary.

I doubt it; once one is in the range of a good score (7_0+) it is really down to the other factors e.g. GPA essay recommendations etc.
