Difference between a lopsided 2240 and an "even" 2240"

I got a 2240 on the may SAT...but my score was very lopsided. 800 reading, 780 writing, 660 math. Is there a big difference between that 2240 and a 800, 700, 740 score? is it worth retaking in the fall to raise my math just because my math is too low, (ignoring the fact that my composite score will go up probably just because it will be easy to raise a 660)?

Well I think should you take it over just to show universities that you don’t lag in one subject. however it all depends on how many times you’ve taken the SAT.

Yes there is a difference, however lopsided kids are admitted all the time who really stand out in an academic area and show intense passion in a particular EC. They may not be gifted in another area but must be capable of succeeding at a high level nonetheless. They fill a different need in the university.

Only you can say if you are one of these kids and if this is the way your application will present. It is best to leave no question that you are fully capable of high level work in all areas. If you feel you can raise the score it’s certainly worth it, lopsided or not.

I think it is worth retaking because math is learnable and you you could potentially get a 2400.
