I am seeing that some peope were accepted and did not get FA (not becaue we didn't qualify, but because the school did not have enough to give us the amount we needed) and some people are saying that they were accepted and put on a FA waitlist. Do you think there is a difference? Two years ago my son was admitted without FA, I wrote a letter and was informed that they had put my son on the FA wait list. No luck though...

I'm not sure there is a difference in the end ultimately. However, the one school we got a FA waitlist from (not NMH) specifically said we'd be given extra time beyone 4/10 to make our admissions decision. I do not think that admission without aid at all would be given that extension (someone in that situation please correct me if I'm wrong).
I think that you have the CHANCE of getting FA on a FA waitlist and NO CHANCE of it if you are not on one.

That said, ultimately, is there a difference? Will those on the FA waitlist get $$? We got a nice package elsewhere that we will take (school higher on our list and not likely we'd get that much from a waitlist) and I imagine many others are in that same position. However, a 3rd school we are turning down $$, so that may free some up for someone on their FA waitlist (I don't think anyone on this board applied there). So, we will never know if we would have gotten enough to attend the FA waitlist school.
