Difference between all the dorms

<p>I'm entering as a freshman in fall of this year and I've done a lot of research on the dorms at UF but i've found that most of them seem the same...</p>

<p>My first choice for a dorm is probably a double room with either central or window AC. It seems like most of the halls have this type of dorm, besides Lakeside, Springs, Beaty, etc.</p>

<p>A few questions: Do all the dorms besides apartment/suite style have the same type of bathroom setup? Or do some have fewer people sharing bathrooms than others?
Last summer at a scholars program, I stayed at Broward for one night in a three-person room with everyone on the floor sharing the same bathroom (3 or 4 showers, sinks, and stalls). Is this how all the halls are?
Are there halls where the showers are in a separate room from the toilets? And which dorms have fewer people sharing a bathroom?</p>

<p>As you can see, privacy is a concern of mine, although I would like to be in social dorms to meet new people.</p>

<p>Murphree Hall has shared bathrooms among maybe 10 people. That Hall was probably my best experience on campus.</p>

<p>^ So, you loved sharing the bathroom with 10 people?? I don’t, so I live in Springs, which, in my opinion, is the best UF dorm for freshmen that are not very social, however, HARD to get.</p>

<p>Loved Murphree when I move their later on, but I was in the traditional dorm my freshmen year. Murphree bathroom ranges from 7-12 sharing one bath. There is a stall as you step out of the shower, so it private (at least for me). The traditional dorms are 4-6 shower stalls to 30-50 people. Not so bad, other than on weekends.</p>

<p>what about the luxury dorms ie: ivy house, windsor hall, and the courtyards. Would anyone recommend them? Any info on them?</p>

<p>even though they call themselves dorms, they are really apartments, and they have a bunch of websites up with misleading information, so take whatever you read about them with a grain of salt. those apartments are not part of UF. UF dorms are called residence halls</p>

<p>Okay, thank you. Does anyone know which dorms (residence halls) have private bathrooms. Okay, so maybe not private but not communal. I do NOT want to share with a floor of people. Sharing with 2 or 3 other people would be fine with me. What halls should I be looking at; also, is it hard for freshmen to get these or do most freshmen end up living with communal bathrooms.</p>

<p>Beaty, Lakeside, Springs, Hume (2-3 people for those 4). None of the dorms have private 1:1 bathroom.</p>

<p>When I was there it was mixed, but before I left they were changing it to 2yrs and up. Someone else might know more.</p>

<p>Beaty - bathroom is in the room (not the bedroom)
Springs -dont remember you can look at the layout on the website
Hume - jack and jill style rooms/bathrooms
Lakeside - same as spring…dont remember</p>

<p>Do you guys recommend Beaty or any of the above? I don’t really want to share bathrooms with 50 people lmao. How hard is it to get in to the above halls?</p>

<p>Beaty is nice but it’s very unsocial. My guidance counselor told me that she lived there and didn’t like it as much as she liked the traditional community dorms.
I know privacy is a issue for a lot of you but you will get used to sharing a bathroom. It’s cleaned daily, and all you have to wear are shower shoes. At first, I was the type that would never think of sharing a bathroom, but then I visited my bf at USF. I showered and put my makeup on in the bathroom. It’s really not so bad.

<p>Any current or previous students have any opinions on the dorms in the Yulee area? It seems people only want to live in the huge social dorms like Broward and Jennings, or the more private ones like Beaty and Hume. -_-
I’ll never find a roommate with the same preferences, heh…</p>

<p>I said it was my best experience which, as it turns out, is damning with faint praise. I was in Hume for two years and I honestly felt like Hume was worse than Murphree. The Murphree rooms at least had some humanity to them unlike Hume’s cinderblock walls and 1970’s color scheme.</p>

<p>One might think “oh great a bathroom between only four people” but, rest assured, one or more of your room/suitemates will be slobs and, as I recall, my bathroom wasn’t cleaned daily unlike the communal setups elsewhere on campus.</p>

<p>Yulee is a dorm that is mostly freshman and is quite a nice traditional dorm. Bathroom down the hall and bathrooms were remodeled recently. It is next to Broward on 13th street, also close to classes. Also, the windows are redone. A good choice for freshman.</p>

<p>How do you find roommates? Is there a certain method of picking roommates, or are they chosen at random for you? I would like someone who wants Beaty or Yulee.</p>
