Difference between Applied Mathematical Sciences, Comp Sci Emphasis vs Computer Science &Engineering

When i applied to my other UCs they all had Computer Science as a major but for some reason at Merced there were two options Applied Mathematical Sciences w/ Computer Science Emphasis or Computer Science & Engineering. I’m not interested in Engineering so I ended up applying and getting in with a Applied Math Sci, CS Emphasis. Now i wondering what’s the difference between the two and did i apply to the right major? Also, will this affect me 5 years from now when i’'m getting a job or going to graduate school?

Not 100%, but I’d think Applied Mathematical Sciences w/ Computer Science Emphasis would be more based on programming, algorithms, application design, data structures, and stuff like that, while on the other hand, Computer Science & Engineering would be how to build computers, design robots, and that kind of stuff. You should research more yourself!
