DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CC"S AND UNIVERSITIES?

I am currently a student at a community college, I have a 4.0 and not to sound like I am bragging, but it didn't seem very hard to get all A's. How much harder are the classes at schools like Tufts or other good Universities?

what do you think?

I realize they are harder...I meant how much? A 4.0 at a CC = 3.0 at a good university? or worse?

its not THAT much harder...i'm sure if you're getting straight A's you can do the same if you work harder.

true the girl in my class who was on probation in a UC got a D in my CC chem class...really depends on the teacher...both can be hard or easy depeding on how much you work.

CC's, even though they're easier than state schools, aren't bad to take classes in once in a while. The class sizes at cc's are usually smaller and the teachers teach at a slower rate so people can understand things better.

I took my calc courses in the summer at a cc and I felt that even though they were easier, they were effective in teaching me.

I don't know why people assume that every class taught at a CC is going to be harder than that at a university. It depends on the professor, really. Some CC classes are taught by professors who believe in preparing their students for the kind of work they'll encounter at the university (I had a few like this.) Others don't. It's simple as that. It also depends because CC's tend to offer a few different kinds of classes for different populations. So their difficulty will also differ depending upon who's expected to enroll. For instance, my American history classes were general ed and were not that difficult. My second semester English Lit class on the other hand consisted only of students majoring in English and planning to go on to universities. This class was very challenging.

"I don't know why people assume that every class taught at a CC is going to be harder than that at a university"

Who thinks this?

I think what he meant to say was "I don't know why people assume that every class taught at a CC is going to be easier than that at a university"

We can all assume that in general, classes at community colleges are going to be easier than at state schools. However, I have heard that some state schools (like Oklahoma Univ.) are unusally easy.

Just going off personal experience, classes at my CC were laughably easy compared to university classes. I contributed a minor amount of effort in CC classes and had no problems pulling a 3.75. At the university level, if I pulled a seemster 3.75, I'd drink myself silly in celebration.
