So, I recently took a College Board Practice and got a 2300 on it (I'm a sophomore currently).

Has anyone taken the CB Practice Tests and the real tests and saw a huge drop or have had their school gone up substantially?
And are there any major differences between the practice tests and the real thing?
Is there anything you need to prepare for that's different on the real thing?
Sorry for tons of questions, nervous xD

Practically nothing, really.
They are official tests, after all. You might find it different if you didn’t do the practice test in a 4-hour streak or if you’re affected by nerves on test day, but other than that, you shouldn’t see more than a 50 point difference from your practice test score.

By the way, I took a few practice tests, without the writing sections. Always got between a 760-800 on M, and 680-710 on CR. Got 800 and 660, respectively, with an 800 on writing. Meh.

@Jimmy What if you get fluctuations? ie For CR, I got around 650 to around 690 to around 740… o_O, and it’s up and down. Could it be possibly just the mood and the distractions I have in my house that alter my score so erratically?

i think that would be normal bro, it will deffinetely fluctuate specially in the reading section since you might have more ease with some passages

Fluctuations in CR are common but the score should not fluctuate more than 50-70 points. I used to average around 680-690 with 670,680,730,710,620(?), etc… On the real test, I got a 680. These were all official tests (Blue book and QAS’s). Distractions in the house can be a factor for loud noise or tense moods do restrict you from giving it your best.

To those having fluctuations in the CR, I suggest you prepare for your lowest-ish score to be the result on test day. I still remember that one practice test had so many narratives in it that I got a 780 on it, but it doesn’t count much. 3 official SATs later, and I still haven’t gotten anywhere near the 780 or a test with all narratives [which are easy for me]. Unfortunately. Some flukes happen, it does depend on luck in a way.
I’m sorry to hear that. Perhaps go to a library? Or a friend’s house?

I do my tests in the basement but since there is a door that leads to the basement from the outside garden and makes a sound when it is open, I get interrupted a lot. Plus, my sister cries and screams a bunch. I don’t think it affects my score tho. But it seems to me that I can’t work on a test without any disturbance.

what affects ur CR score and causes it to flucuate is the content of the passages. I find when the passages are interesting to me and on topics which i have prior knoledge about i do about 60 pnts better than those times when th epassages are boring and unrelatable.

The CB practice tests are real SATs so there is no difference between them and the real thing as far as the test goes. The only difference that may matter is that you take one at home when it doesn’t count and you take the real one in a test center when it does count.
