Difference between community college and technical schools?

I was reading on these technical schools online one that I found was the institute of audio research. It has a 900-hour program that exposes students to every facet of modern recording technology. While it claims to do this the tuition is $16,000 per year.

1.Whats the deal with these technical schools and why do people decide to go there?

2.Is there a greater benefit than going there than a community college?

I know at a community college they waste all of your time taking these crappy classes at the beginning that you don't even need is this the case in technical schools as well?

Why is it so expensive and is it even worth it?

I went to a now defunct technical school about a decade ago for computer information systems. I decided to go there because my uncle went there and got a good paying job after he finished. I think the benefit a lot of people see about going to technical schools is that a lot of them are accelerated. You get in, you finish the program, and you’re done faster than going to a traditional college. This is also why a lot of them are expensive besides the fact that they are “for profit” schools. It’s worth it if you want to go to school and finish quickly.

The thing that many technical schools don’t tell you, however, is that their credits most likely won’t transfer if you decide to go to a traditional college/university later in life. I’m starting over right now at a community college and I have to start from scratch.
