can someone giv me the social difference between Duke and JHU as opposed to the academic differences. For example, I know the JHU has lots of things to do -- Chesapeake bay, the harbor, and is in the middle of downtown baltimore.... i hear that Duke is actually very small and in a small town and is very secluded and there arent many things to do....is this true?

You'll find all types of students at both schools. You'll be able to find a group of friends who share your interests no matter where you go.

I think the question you are asking yourself is would you prefer a suburban campus or a city campus. There are general trends which are associated with both so this is a question you have to answer on your own.

You need to visit each school and make your own conclusions. Duke and Hopkins are similar in a number of ways, but quite different as well. And the differences are not just social and campus.

Comparing schools really is something you need to do individually. Everyone has their own personal preferences and personal biases. If you can't visit, then spend a lot of time on the school's web site and learn what it is really like to be a Blue Jay or Blue Devil.
