For a Sociology Major.

Assuming sociology is in the college of letters and science, here are the [GE areas](UC Santa Barbara General Catalog - Bachelor of Arts Degree). And [here is a link](http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/transfer/requirements/additional-requirements/igetc/) to IGETC. The UCSB GEs require at least 14 classes while IGETC requires at least 11. The main difference is in the number of English classes, you don’t need to take literature for IGETC.

Definitely take the IGETC path. It’ll ensure you have more freedom if you decide to change your target school.

Okay thanks for the info!
