Hi guys,
I was looking at the NJ Governor's School of Engineering and Technology
and the Governor's School in the Sciences, and I was just wondering if one of these programs is more prestigious than the other, or if they're equally prestigious. And what about competitiveness? Usefulness? Is one more fun than the other? What have your experiences with them been? (Particularly with the Engineering and Technology program!)

I think they’re equally prestigious, but Engineering is probably more competitive to get into if you’re a guy. There are super crazy smart people aha…then again I had a Chem Olympiad friend in Sciences with two other of her Chem Olympiad friends and apparently a Physics Olympiad guy (who left in the middle of it to go to IPho). In terms of usefulness, if you’re into engineering, totally go for the engineering one. Personally, I learned a lot from there and the people I met were super awesome. Engineering is also a lot more work than Sciences. My friends from Sciences told me about how they had free time everyday while in Engineering, we barely had any and usually worked during our free time anyways. xD But it was great and its super fun. The counselors are amazing! Our projects are also really interesting in my opinion plus you get to have robotics competitions on top of your research project and you get to take an awesome class about modern physics :). If you’re into computer science, take math behind the machine and digital logic…trust me, you’ll learn A LOT. Last year, the teacher for math behind the machine was a Harvard-Princeton-insert other amazing school graduate who also teaches at Harvard. For sciences, according to my friend, if you go there DON’T TAKE THE COURSES YOU KNOW THE MOST ABOUT. They don’t go into depth, its all intro stuff. My friend loves organic chem so she took orgo but she already knew all the stuff they talked about.
If you’re planning to go to engineering in college, go for Engineering, but if you want to go into the sciences, go to the Sciences. I mean it’ll look weird if you go to one but want to major in the other right? xD Oh well, I’m going into the sciences but I went to Engineering (at that time I wanted to go into engineering…but then physics just grew on me a lot over the past year). I don’t regret it though because of the people I met, all the things I got to do, and everything I learned. It’s an amazing experience, and I’m positive that with whichever one you go to you’ll love it, Mr/Ms. harvaaaaard.

If you’re still a sophomore, you have LOADS of time to decide. See whichever one starts interesting you more as you take more classes and do more studying on your own along with extracurriculars. Good luck! :D

Hello,
Is there a certain GPA or grades needed to be at least nominated for Governor School of Engineering?
