Difference between Ross and Wharton

Anyone care to share?

wharton is an Ivy, top school and Ross is a good business school.

Thank you captain obvious.

Thats a really broad question. I would venture to guess that very few people on CC have attended both. I would suggest figuring out what you want out of undergrad business school and asking how Wharton and Ross are different in those ways. Also, both schools have websites and you can research a lot of it on your own…

I don’t think the two are much different. Wharton and Ross are both equally good and the students are so competitive at both places. Both schools will give you the same opportunities.

MighytNick, how much do you think the difference is, quantitatively?

About 6 inches.

Wow, that’s big!

Internationals (Asians) might think that’s big, but for people here that’s normal.

Most people at Ross know what Wharton is, but most people at Wharton won’t know what Ross is…

^ That’s nonsense. Still, most will know “UMICH” if not Ross.

considering that you’ll be wearing your undergrad logo for life, I’d say the difference is:

“I went to Wharton undergrad before getting my MBA from Harvard”
versus
“I went to Ross undergrad before getting my MBA from Harvard”

Do you see the difference? Whole different ring for Wharton than for Ross. Wharton has more name recognition so you’re more marketable.

I must be deaf. I don’t hear any ring.

Are you kidding me? Ridiculous.

That is the equivalent of saying, “most people at Yale know what Princeton is, but most people at Princeton don’t know what Yale is.”

That’s not analogous at all. Far more people have heard of Wharton than Ross. It’s more like comparing Harvard to WashU–they’re both fantastic schools, but one will get you a lot farther.

What is the point of this question? Did you get into Ross but not wharton?

I am in the sixth grade and I am trying to decide on which school to go to.

Let’s see…

US News ranking top schools:

 1. Princeton
 2. Yale

US news undergrad business school ranking:

 1. Wharton
 2. Ross.

Not analogous? psssh…

Ouch…

MightyNick: 1, IRJunkie: 0

I think most would agree that the top 10% at Wharton are far better than the top 10% at Ross. That’s not the case with Princeton and Yale–the top 10% at both schools will be about the same. As such, the comparison isn’t analogous–Wharton has far more name recognition than Ross does.
