Difference between the tests?

Howdy,

I took the SAT in May and the ACT in June with a 2140 & 35 respectively. As I understand it, the 35 is significantly better in terms of college admissions. I'd like to submit only my ACT score to colleges but I'm concerned that admissions departments will view the ACT as the "easier" option and therefore look at it as lower than the SAT. Let's say I apply to UVA, Brown, Columbia, Yale, and Vanderbilt, which would I be best off submitting? SAT, ACT, or both? Thanks!

I just spent 10 minutes Googling the undergraduate standardized testing requirements for all the schools on your list - ACT is completely acceptable and your ACT score is actually around or above 75th percentile for all of the schools you are planning to apply to. Because Brown, Columbia and Yale require 2 SAT Subject Tests for anyone that chooses to submit SATs, it is actually easier to just submit the ACT (especially if you haven’t taken your 2 subject tests).

So take away - 1) ACT is not inferior. 2) Google is your best friend.
