Difference btwn soph transfer/junior transfer

Hi guys, im an incoming freshman this fall and i am determined to transfer to a better college but i've come across some issues... After researchin i found out there's sophomore AND junior transfers. So heres the questions, whats hte difference between those two?

Say im a sophomore transfer do i apply in the spring of freshman year or what?

Thanks!

Soph transfer means you spend 1 year at your original school and start in the fall as a soph at your new school. To apply for a soph transfer applications are generally due in late winter/early spring during your fr year. So, you transfer school will only have your HS record, test scores and 1 sem/qt of college to evaluate. This makes it difficult to transfer up to a more selective college as a soph transfer.

Application is usually due in December or January or even later, but starting early never hurts.

Check out Andale’s Transfer 101 thread. In short, HS transcripts/info is of less importance for junior transfers.

Thanks everyone =]
