Difference in Bio research opporunities at Vanderbilt vs. UNC-CH?

Hey guys, I’ve been accepted to both of these schools as a transfer. I play on pursuing a Master’s and PhD, and it’s my understanding that admission to Master’s programs relies heavily on undergraduate research. I was wondering if there is a significant difference in the research opportunities afforded by these schools? I.e. funding, study abroad, summer research w/ stipends, etc., or if there is any other significant advantage that Vanderbilt would offer over UNC in graduate admissions.

I will speak on behalf of UNC- there are plenty of research opportunities, internships, summer research with stipends, graduate school ( including funded phd) acceptances- etc. I can’t speak for Vanderbilt but I am sure it has plenty to offer as well. You might want to post on the individual college forums.

@two girls Thanks for the input! Anyone else agree/disagree?

Daughter’s boyfriend was accepted from undergrad program directly to a fully funded Ph.D. program in research at UNC-CH. He had significant research experience at an LAC and 10 weeks conducting research at the Center for Human Genetic Research in Harvard Medical School’s Massachusetts General Hospital Research Institute for 2 summers. The question is how much research opportunity will you have at Vandy and at UNC as an undergrad, or are most of the opportunities afforded to grad students. It was a good suggestion to post this question in each of the college’s forums. Parents and some current undergrads will be able to give you guidance. Best of luck.

Differences? None. Both will offer high quality medical research opportunities. Save $ for med school tuition, go to the less expensive option.
