Difference in community colleges?

Hello all. About me: 24, honorably discharged from the Marine Corps. Did 5 years of service. After heeding advice from other vets, I decided to go to community college, instead of straight into a 4 year. Im in the SF Bay Area, and will be transferring to UC Berkeley once admissible.

Im in the East Bay, and was planning on attending Foothill College. Thats a 30-40 minute drive without major traffic. I have attend Foothill before the Corps. Didnt do much, but I know the school, and they have some excellent teachers. There is a CC, Ohlone College, 20 minutes away, and they also have a Newark campus, not more than 10min away. Not sure the quality of their teachers, but their facility look pretty nice, as well as Foothills.

Im majoring in Chemical Engineering, and have had the counselor write out my Education Plan, but am wondering if it would be wiser to attend the closer CC.

Again, the big differences, that I know of, is Ohlone is in the East Bay; a bit ghetto/industrial. Foothill is in the Los Altos, very very rich community, very nice campus in a very nice location (right in/near the foothills, gorgeous)...

Well, I feel somewhat silly now. After writing out this post, I think I would rather attend Foothill : P

Oh well, what your thoughts...

Go to the community college that offers more classes for your major. That can help you complete more prerequisites making you a competitive applicant when applying to universities. But don’t overlook distance. It can be a nuisance driving back and forth. I would just go to the closer, nice one. Just make sure they offer a lot prerequisites.

Attend the CC where it is easy to get classes.
