Can you provide the breakdown of S2’s aid?

Can you copy/paste the NPC results for S3?

There does seem to be a problem.

Maybe you’ve left out a univ grant or something in your earlier post about the NPC results.

I just did the calculator here https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/pay-for-college/paying-your-share/expected-family-contribution-calculator#efc_status …and got this …

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1800857-what-are-options-when-parents-required-payment-is-too-much-next-year-will-have-2-sons-in-college-p8.html

No… really I didn’t… (I wish!)…what I put in post #36 here is literally ALL they had listed after doing it… … that’s why I asked… must be because they don’t include student loans in there … or what the college gives in other private scholarships (like the 2 they gave 2nd son this year)…beyond stating “Congratulations… _____ qualifies for the Alumni scholarship”…and throwing State Grants at $4,000 plus calculating any others at $1,200…

Doing this calculator was likely why we never applied for 1st son…I remember getting results something like this…(thinking OMG!)… never considered this college even though it would have been a perfect fit for him, being a christian & all, a worship leader & close to home… so instead he just applied to the lowest cost 4-yr public college in our state…which had the highest Partying record…

He did alright - although after the 1st year moved off campus with some Christian guys…he ended up not caring for his college experience much at all…

Your 3rd son needs to apply widely (a variety of colleges with ABET accredited degrees), hoping to get the lowest possible net price.
It seems possible Geneva will not take “2 kids in college” into account when calculating (or that the NPC doesn’t), but the federal system does know it’ll cost you twice as much, and will thus increase your Pell award. This may not be reflected in what you see from Geneva or other colleges, although a “good” NPC will reflect that. A “good” NPC takes a while to fill out (about 10mn).

Hi @OverRunMama, I’m glad to hear S2 is loving his time at Geneva!

It seems unreal for S3 to look for colleges already.

Grove City does not participate with federal financial aid program, so you would lose Pell.

What does S3 like? Bloomsburg has nanotechnology I believe.

Point Park University has animation major. He might get a scholarship there.

He needs a state school that has low cost or generous private school like Geneva.

Penn State main would not be affordable, $16,000 tuition plus room and board. The most a PA student can hope for is about $10 k in aid between full Pell and PHEAA. If school does not give scholarships and extra aid $26,000 would not be affordable.

Even Erie would probably cost $13,000 for tuition and unless he could commute, difficult to afford.

How about Robert Morris university, also close to Pittsburgh?

I think they have a marching band. He might get merit.

This was C/P from a thread about S2, that was his aid package I believe.
Other than merit, Geneva had grant and Griffith-Royal scholarship listed.

Mom, has S3 applied to Geneva, any other schools? Make sure FAFSA gets filed early this year and list any posdible school S3 might be interested in or has applied.
