Are you a graduating college senior or are you planning to limit your GPA to the 2.0-2.5 range?

UT-Austin doesn’t have a particularly strong liberal arts program as it is, due to the top 10% rule. I know people who graduate from top liberal arts schools with near perfect GPA having trouble finding jobs. I would imagine it would be pretty tough finding a decent job with a 2.5 GPA from UT’s liberal arts program. Furthermore, your prospect for graduate school would be severely limited.

What is the 10% rule?

Tentai - Texas law is that any TX high school senior graduating in the top 10% of their class is guaranteed admission to any public university in the state (but not necessarily guaranteed a slot for their preferred major, just to the university). As you can imagine, UT Austin is a huge draw for those applicants. Beginning with Fall 2011, UT has indicated they will only admit the top 8% automatically to allow for more spaces for non-top 10%, OOS and international students.
