Difference in scores from the 2nd to 3rd time?

How did your score improve?

Well, 1st to 2nd it stayed the same, but I’m hoping that the 3rd time is a charm…

Well, I have only taken the ACT once. However, I have theorized about the notion of improving.

Statistically speaking, the biggest jump in ACT scores takes place in the 2nd sitting. The person either was dissatisfied with their first score tremendously, or they learned how to better take the test.

However, I have known plenty who have had two big jumps in score, from the 1st to the 2nd and from the 2nd to the 3rd. This would mean that the first time the person is very unprepared, and then they try to study a lot. After that they study more.

The sad truth is that for most people, the 3rd ACT is either a slight increase, or possibly a disastrous DROP. :(

8th grade: 24->27->28->26
10th grade: 32

Going to take again in September after reading up the Princeton Review book. :D

september:31
feburary: 29
april (state): 30

retakin hasn’t helped me. im takin in september one last time fer the heck of it! not expecting a improvement in scores unless i happen to be very lucky.

december 08: 24
april 09: 32
april 09 (state test): 28

my score dropped a ton. but then again, i came into the state test with a pretty uncaring attitude. i was satisfied with my 32 and knew that i couldn’t improve so i didn’t really try.

i would agree with an above poster that the 2nd time is usually the biggest increase, but i have a friend who started with a 25 and took it like 6 more times ending up with a 30. she gradually increased after getting a 25 twice (both cold), so maybe you can too.

Yeah, I know someone who went from 17-31, over 11 times of taking the test.

I went from 26 to 34-ish from the length of the beginning of my 11th grade to present time. I used the following books in this order. ( Some of which I still need to complete…)

1) RB
2) PR 1296
3) Barron’s 36
4) Barron’s math and science review
5) RB ( again…)
6) Barron’s Reading and Writing book

I have no life, but I have a 34 :)

^^ haha, nice…

Barron’s 36 probably should have been last…
