Difference in URM's?

Does it matter what type of URM you are, or does it vary by race?

My friend is Mexican American, and is wondering how much he'll be helped by his URM status.

He is currently in the middle upper range of the GPA spectrum (b/w 3.6 and 3.7), entering his 4th year at Yale. His EC's and LOC's would probably be best described as above average, but not spectacular.

What would be the required LSAT to have a chance at getting into the T4?
He also has legacy at HLS, so how much would that help?

I saw in another post that African Americans received near a 10 point LSAT boost, can someone offer information on whether Mexican American URM status is worth about the same?

Thanks!

“As a rough rule of thumb, African-American average 10 points below, Hispanics 5 points below, and American Indians 3-5 points below” (Montauk 163).

Since your friend’s GPA falls below Yale’s 25th percentile (GPA), he should aim for at least 5 points below Yale’s 75th percentile (LSAT) to be considered competitive.

171, more or less.

Now it goes:
African American
Hispanics
Native American/Pacific Islander

the lower you are on that list, the more it will help. Being African American is still pretty helpful, but don’t bank on it to get you into Harvard.

What? Noob has it backwards.

Mhm so then Hispanic is worth about 5 points then? What about legacy?
