Differences between science faculties in Vancouver and Okanagan campus?

Hi all, I’ve just received UBC’s admission decisions recently after sending in my GCE A level results. I applied to faculty of science, Vancouver campus as my first choice, and the business school (sauder) as my second choice (which I later gave up filling the supplementary application when I discovered I have to pay additional fees to apply). Since my family currently resides in Vancouver, I did not consider the Okanagan campus at all. However, the admission decision turns out that I am rejected for my first choice, and an extra “choice 3” just comes out of nowhere and states that I’m accepted into the faculty of science, Okanagan campus.

I am quite puzzled by this decision, I would take that my rejection is due to not meeting the academic requirement (as I’ve only gotten AABB for my A levels), but why do they admit me into the same faculty in Okanagan campus? And does this show that the faculty of science in UBC Okanagan is of a lower standard (in terms of admission and education quality as well as facilities) compared to UBC Vancouver?

Yes. Which answers your first question.

Hi,

I think its been about 2 months since you post this. Well, I am currently studying in UBC sauder, and i transferred from the UBCO Arts faculty. To answer your question, the ubco campus generally has a lower admission criteria in all faculties, and they are trying to attract more students to their campus as I believe they did not hit their 7500 student target for 2010 or 2011.

other than that, it is a beautiful campus and you will meet lots of great people. Personally, I don’t really enjoy it as much as in Vancouver, as there are only a limited amount of things that you could do in Kelowna
