differences between the education systemes

as most of us know , going to us for higher education is not an easy decision cause it involves a lot of stress , and may cost a lot of money. so you must have strong reason to follow the procedure.
the first answer may come to everyone's mind is the quality of the higher education but how do you define this? i mean, what you can achieve in an American university that you would not achieve in your home country?what are the opportunities available that my not exist in other universities in your home country?

for beginning i start with myself. in my country, iran, to enter an state university you have to pass a tough exam called konkoor . for example if you want to study electronic in the best engineering school in iran (sharif tech) normally you have to study an average of 8 hours per day for a year ,
unfortunately the outcome is not very rewarding and even the university ranking is not satisfactory and the only advantage is to be with a bunch of intelligent students!
which 90 percent of them intend to go to us or Canada for their graduate degrees!
the labs are also poor and the opportunities to take part in a research project are little.
the community activities are not great and there are only a few partnership with top universities around the world

there are a lot which discourage me to study here i wanted to know what about you guys?
what are your concerns and reasons?

bumppp! i hope others share their stories

I know of students in one of the supposedly “most prestigious” universities in my country…who are in their second year and have not even STEPPED into a lab (and they study chemical engineering or biotechnology!). There are just no resources, no labs, no way for an undergrad to get any real experience or exposure to the field.

At the university I’m attending, I have two mandatory chem labs a week…at the very least.
