Different Colleges, Same Major?

I was just finishing up my Cornell application when I came up with a question.
I want to go to Cornell for Biological Engineering so I decided to apply to The College of Engineering (First Choice) and CALS.
I was wondering if there was any problem if I put down my anticipated major as Biological Engineering for both? If not is it better to say I'm going to major in Chemical Engineering for the Engineering school? The reason I don't automatically do this is because my biology SAT Subject is better than Chemistry. Also which college would give me more benefits financially? I know CALS has relations to SUNY and I'm a NY resident.
Anyway, thanks!

New York state residents get a substantial tuition discount in CALS, so you'd be better off making that your first choice. The savings is more than $16,000 per year (Costs).

You can put down your intended major as Biological Engineering in your application to either school, but in the CoE you don't have to officially declare the major until the end of your sophomore year. (Undergraduate Programs)

Thanks for your reply! I have another question about financial aid. My family's annual income would be about 100K. In that case, I was wondering if this would make CoE financially comparable to CALS because of the new financial aid policies Cornell has. Also, do these policies apply to CALS even though it is a state institution? I will appreciate any input on this.

Actually, CALS isn't a state institution -- here's an explanation of the relationship between the State of New York and Cornell: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/211716-new-york-connection-suicide-chances-other-cornell-rumors-faqs.html

I'm sorry I don't know the details of the new financial aid policies, so I'm not sure whether your costs would be similar for the two divisions. You could call the financial aid office or even post your question to the financial aid blog (Undergraduate Admissions Blog Archive The new financial aid initiative)

Your admission chances are so much better with the Ag school than the Engineering school. I agree CALS should be your first choice if you're a NY resident.
