Different School System

Hi,

I’m an international student applying to US schools this year.
The school system in my country is made of 3 years of middle school and 3 years of high school.
My adviser advised me to add my 9th grade to my applications (UC and Common app) while he knows that they are part of middle school.
Should i add them?

Ask individual schools. They will give the most accurate answers. EACH SCHOOL will have a different answer, though

If you want to play it safe, report grades from the 9th grade on your transcript. No college will object to the extra year of grades.

If you want to leave them off, you should email every single college you are applying to and ask them if they are okay without 9th grade data. It’s probably okay, but public universities sometimes have very strict admission policies. You don’t want your application to get auto-rejected because it was labeled ‘incomplete’.

Yes, they will want to see 9th (and even 8th if your 8th grades includes classes like foreign language, algebra, geometry, biology… that could be taken in HS or middle school in the US).
As b@r!um said, if you specifically want to exclude those middle school grades, email each college one by one to know whether they’ll accept your 10-12th school transcripts only.
If you’re in a British-patterned system, they won’t care about school transcripts and will only care about GCSE/iGCSE/O’Level exam results + AS results + predicated A Levels.

Listen to b@r!um he’s a pretty experienced with the international studies thingy
