Sounds like there are several different status messages going on right now. My S's is
" We have completed a preliminary review of your application. We sometimes request additional information (senior-year grades, for example), so be sure to watch the mail. You may submit senior year grades at xxx, even if we did not specifically request them. We are continuing to review applications and expect to mail notification of a decision by April 1st. "

Let's call this one "Completed Preliminary/ May Submit Grades"
S is undeclared, did not get a letter, has excellent, but not perfect stats, and has no hook.

How many others have this same message?
What other messages are there?

mom, if you check the the “status update” thread, there’s a running list of varying combinations (status, letter, major, etc.) and theories going on there. Probably means nothing, but it’s fun to pass the waiting days.

The bugs aren’t in the USC system… it is working the exact same way it does each year. And each year there are these endless threads about what the statuses mean. And each year it turns out they mean nothing. Read post #337 (page 23) of the famous status thread for an (ignored) example of how meaningless the statuses are. I am sure it will continue to be ignored…

You proved the status changes means nothing so I am just to ignore them until the decision come, but how about the famous ‘no big scholarship’ letter? How come only some of the early applicants receive them?

I know I still can’t quit digging into this…

Preliminary review/you may submit your grades

No scholarship at this time letter

Financial aid package addressed to parents

I also had my status change to “We have completed a preliminary review of your application.” and I believe i got a letter about financial aid, but I think it was a while back. What exactly is the no scholarship at this time letter? I applied in Nov., so before the December 1st scholarship deadline, but I haven’t recieved the letter. Of course, I live on the East Coast. DOes anyone know when the ‘no scholarship’ letter was sent? Thanks!

please dont read too much into #3 (getting a financial aid packaged delivered to ur parents)

i got one last year, got my hopes up, and was eventually rejected. im pretty sure they send it to everyone, if we’re talking about the same thing

Boom91 & 2Leashes-my son did receive all 3. His status still reads “forwarded for committee review.” I think it’s especially hard because he is trying to get into Viterbi School of Engineering.
