I am enrolled in Hutton and I am wondering how hard it will be to double major through that program, or in general. My plan was biology and business for pre-med, a combination that I am anticipating to be difficult. Also, can anyone weight the pros and cons of an actual degree in business vs a LAMP degree?

I know at least in the business school it is very, very easy to double major.

I'm guessing if you want to major in biology and business, though, that it would pretty difficult to double major--only because there are so many required courses in both programs.

It probably depends upon your area of concentration in business, though. Some areas of concentration, like finance, require about 8 extra courses over the basic business requirements, while others, like Business Law (Legal Studies), only requires about 5.

It's quite easy to get a major in biology and a minor in business, though--and probably vice-versa I'm guessing. I think to minor in business only requires about 5 extra courses total (15 extra units)--versus majoring in business--which requires 62 total units.

To compare that total, understand that it normally takes 124 units to graduate--and the business school requires 62 units (or 50% of them) to be in business (although I think they count the two Math courses, two Economics courses, and the one required Public Speaking course in this total).

It would be downright impossible to do both in four years, without taking full-time summer school each summer. The advantage of a regular business degree in say finance is that you would be better equipped to take the high-paying medical jobs in the financial sector. However, I don't think you would be that much better off than with the LAMP program. Therefore I think LAMP is your best option.
