Difficult to keep GPA at 4.0

I want to know:

How hard is it to maintain a GPA of 4.0 in CS (Computer Science)?

Is it pre-med type hard?

How much study time do CS kids usually spend?

Do they have "lives"? Such as a social life, I don't want to go to a University and just read a textbook 24/7.

Are the CS kids social or introverts? My friend who is in CS at The Farm, told me that some of the kids just lock themselves in their dorm rooms, and play World of Warcraft all day. I hope he was just pulling my leg but is it true?

I have seen some CS106A lectures on Youtube conducted by, Mehran Sahami and I adore him (no-homo), he makes his class so interesting and I love his "candy-spray" so uncoordinated.

Stop posting. Seriously.

Seriously dude. You are all I see when I come on to the Stanford Forum. Instead of wasting your time on cc this early, go out and make a positive impact while you still can; even if for nothing other than to make you a strong applicant.

You will have all the time to waste on cc later while/after you have applied. :)

Alright… I’ll go find something productive.

Do you mind answering my questions though?

buummmmmmp… Can someone please answer.

Is this kid for real lol^^

^Maybe. But you have to start wondering if no one’s gonna answer. CS at Stanford is at the top of the pile but are students MIT/Caltech types or generally a little more down to earth? They all playing WC?

Bump… I wanna know about this too.

Thought I would just point out that it appears that StanfordCS = UChicago2016

^ Huh? Whatya mean?

How hard is it to maintain a GPA of 4.0 in CS (Computer Science)?
-depends. in general it’s not impossible, but it may be for some people.

Is it pre-med type hard?
-I think the curves for the premed classes are lower. and premed classes aren’t as project based (no group projects, either). But after the premed reqs (biocore, chem, etc.) you can literally do whatever major you want, which might balance things out.

How much study time do CS kids usually spend?
-A lot.

Do they have “lives”? Such as a social life, I don’t want to go to a University and just read a textbook 24/7.
-They are generally social if they have free time. However, a lot of their time goes into completing assignments for class. Group project based assignments makes things more social though.
