so my academic record is what I’m worried about. I started Community college after HS and ended up dropping out due to personal reasons explained in another post. From that college, I have 3 withdrawals, and 3 F’s on my transcript. I’m incredibly disappointed with myself, but can’t change the past.
I took a year off and went back to a different CC school in Pittsburgh, and i currently now have a 3.8 GPA as a 3rd semester student.
My dream school is Syracuse University. other choices include Pitt, Pace, Vassar, Northeastern, University of Connecticut, DePaul, Purchase college, and Cal State long beach
I want to major in Acting, Theater, or Film Studies
I’m worried about not getting in when combining both of my transcripts from both schools. Any advice? Will Syracuse deny me?
Are you applying for fall 2019? Acting majors need to audition and Theater majors need to submit a portfolio, and I think those results outweigh academics (though you still need to be accepted by the University, so academics do matter, just not as much as for other majors). If you haven’t started the process, though, I think it might be too late for Acting/Theater for Fall. But get in touch with the school of Visual & Performing Arts to be sure, don’t take my word for it.
Also, I read your other thread and I second another poster’s recommendation to look at Columbia College Chicago (maybe not this week when it’s 40 below zero). They have an excellent film program, and also strong theater that is non-audition, your grades would probably be fine, and they have rolling admissions. It was my kid’s #2 choice after Syracuse (major in Theater Management) though the schools are very different.
