PR: [you may not realize that it is still possible to pick one's own fruit from an orchard]; the supermarket is not the only place where fruit is available
bracket is underlined
A) you may not realize that it is still possible to pick one's own fruit from an orchard
B) One may not realize that it is still possible to pick your own fruit from an orchard
C) Picking your own fruit from the orchard
D) Although many don't realize it, picking fruit from the orchard is still an option
E) picking your own fruit from the orchard can be a possibility
Answer is D)... Can someone explain this and tell me what category this fall under
dont say improving sentences or what ever dont be so vague please
like for example: idiots, gerunds etc...

It is an issue of improper use of pronouns. D works because it avoids any pronoun disagreements and makes it clear that it is not talking about fruit you personally owned before picking it in the orchard. A is wrong both because “you” and “one’s” do not agree (it would normally be you and your) and creates possible impression that it is referring to picking fruit that already belongs to you when you go to pick it and not just generally to picking fruit. B has same problem as A but just reverses the order of the pronouns used. C creates a dangling participle. E can be wrongly construed to mean the fruit belonged to you before picking it.

The sentance has a semicolon so C is out because its not an idependent clause. E uses an infinitive which isnt appropriate in the context. A and B switch from first to third person.

A) Is wrong, it has an error of pronoun shift.
B) Also wrong bc/ of pronoun shift
C) Sentence fragment

now you’re left with D and E. Choice E is totally misinterpreting the origninal sentence. It wasn’t whether pick your fruit can be a possibility, but it was a choice, or in other words, an option, which is the word used in D. Clearly from process of elimination, D is the right answer, even though we were stuck in a dilemma of D and E. hope i helped!
