Difficult Writing Question

Originally built as a church, (later converted to a mosque, and) now used as a museum, Hagia Sophia, in Istanbul, Turkey, is one of the greatest surviving examples of Byzantine architecture.

A: As is
B: later converted to a mosque and is
c: was later converted to a mosque, and
D: was later converted to a mosque and is
E: it was later converted to a mosque and is

I put B
Answer is A

The answer is A because it is a list. Answer A keeps the sentence most parallel by continuing the “originally… later… now…” pattern. Answer B continues later but it does not continue with “now” like the original answer choice.

I don’t get what you mean by it does not use the “now”. That part of the sentence still stays the same, i just thought it flowed better with an “is”.
