Difficulty of a Double Major

I am currently majoring in accounting and was considering doing a double major or minor with finance or financial services. Is there anyone who could give me a little insight to how difficult this may be, if it would be worth it.

Difficult in what sense? Course rigor? Timely graduation?

You’ll have to look at your college’s requirements. If both are in the same school, then likely it will work. In fact some colleges require a minor, so you can at least do that.

Why do you want to do it? If for grad school, then you just need whatever prerequisites are required, regardless of what your degree is.

I think fitting everything into 4 years would likely be the issue more than the difficulty of the classes. It depends a lot on the school, especially how many courses are in the core curriculum. For example my S went to a Jesuit college which had a huge liberal arts core curriculum and double majoring as an accounting major (with the b-school core + the liberal arts core) would have been extremely difficult. My D’s college had far fewer requirements and a much more flexible core curriculum and many students double majored. Look at the coursework required to graduate with a major and a minor and see if you can fit it all into 4 years. Also consider if having a minor would do anything to benefit you long-term.

^ I mean at least the minor is in the business school too because some of the courses might cross over.
