Difficulty of AP Bio compared to Bio 93/94?

I am a junior planning to be a bio major, but I'm probably not going to take AP Bio in high school. I'm instead taking a relaxed senior year courseload with AP gov and world.

I have already taken AP Physics B and Calculus BC along with a few more AP's, mostly math or history related. I have also self-studied AP Psychology, and I find route memorization very easy.

I figure that either way I'd probably retake the bio pre-reqs if I did AP Bio anyway. My only concern is that I'd do much worse in the college course without any background knowledge. Thoughts?

It WOULD definitely be a tad easier if you took AP Bio…but if you don’t, you’ll live. Either way, bio in college is much different.

Is Bio 93/94 mostly memorization?

Knowing myself, I’d probably slack off due to senioritis and BS my way through AP Bio, cram for the AP test, and pull off a good grade without actually understanding the content. I think I’d rather learn everything on the spot and have it fresh in my head.

I found my AP Biology knowledge very helpful for Bio 93 and 94 (most of the things I learned in 93/94 were familiar to me and it was definitely not as difficult as it would be if I had learned the various concepts for the first time). The types of questions are different - the AP Biology questions emphasis critical thinking and reasoning while Bio 93/94 questions are more memorization (especially 94). I am guessing the professors don’t have enough time to make up elaborate questions.
