Difficulty of Changing Major

I just got accepted into UCSB in the Honors Program! However, I applied for Mechanical Engineering and got into the College of Letters and Science as undeclared. Does anybody have any experience with how difficult it would be, or if it would be even possible, to transfer into ME?

Thanks!

DS also got accepted into UCSB in the Honors Program. Like Chubacabra he applied to Mechanical Engineering and was offered Pre-Computer Science. Wondering as well if it wll be possible to transfer into ME.

I have a friend who’s undeclared but planning to transfer to computer science, he has talked to his advisor and they helped him get the classes he needs. Since you are in the honors program, you are going to have better registration times to register for classes than everyone else, so you’ll be able to get the classes you need with relative ease. The best thing to do is talk to an advisor in the department, they’ll tell you what you need to do and the difficulty in transferring

hey, how do you figure out if you’re in the honors program?? i received the letter for the reception, but trying to see if you can figure it online on the portal?

We went to Chancellor’s Reception and were told there that everyone who received the invitation and applied to Engineering would automatically be eliglible for honors. However, I did not see this anywhere on the portal’s offer of admission. I’m also alittle thrown that after all the kudos about be high achieving, son wasn’t admitted to first choice major. Hope we can change it.
