Difficulty of CHEM 142 without high school chemistry

I need to take CHEM 142 as one of my major's requirement. I went with the Physics pathway in high school and so I was wondering how hard it would be to succeed in Chemistry without much prior knowledge about the topic. Can anyone else who was in the same position share their experience?

I personally took chem in high school and although it helped, it is not entirely needed to do well in the course. I know someone who never took chem in high school and 4.0’d both 142 and 152, and for reference, he’s an honors kid. So no, you can do well depending on how much effort you put into the course.

in my opinion, if you can do physics then you can do chemistry lol

Thanks for the replies, that is somewhat reassuring. I hope I’ll be able to manage.

Bump, any other inputs? It would be greatly appreciated.

It will require more work to get a high grade in chem 142 if you do not have any knowledge in chemistry. However it is not impossible. Like Raamzic said, it is still possible to do well as long as you spend more time and effort on it.

Alright thanks, I’ll see how it goes.
