How hard is it to get into UC Berkeley's Computer Science Departments? What about Harvard or Princeton? Like what are the statistics? What about Cornell or Columbia? lol sorry i jammed tons of questions.

I once read a post by someone from UC Berkeley’s computer science dept, and I remember the poster said that the average stat figures of the students of their department is 30% higher than the whole university figure. So, it means it’s very, very selective. I would figure it’s as hard as getting into some of the best private schools, or maybe even a little more difficult.

thanks RML for the post. Also anyone else, how about other ivy’s? what is the “easiest” ivy to get into. like selection wise. I know ivys r not easy, but the easiest in the ivy. I would appreciate an ASAP reply. thx

To be admitted to most colleges of arts and sciences, you apply to the school, not to a specific department. There may be a place on the application to indicate preferred major, but usually that does not represent a firm commitment.

In these cases, there are likely to be departments (math, physics, CS) within the college that tend to attract students with higher SAT M scores than other departments in the same college. That does not necessarily mean that to be admitted, a higher standard was applied to those students.

ok, thank you
