Is it worth taking a more difficult version of calculus in college even if you can get a better grade in a easier level of calculus?

depend on what you want to do in the future.
if you cant get an A - it is not for you tho...

What about a 'A-' in a difficult course vs. an 'A' in an easier course? which is better?

It depends how much more difficult it is. If for example, it covered all of single variable versus only part, then the A- might look better. I'm not 100% on that though.

What is your purpose of taking it @ a CC rather than at high school? Is it schedule conflicts, or does the teacher @ your high school suck? Are you trying to prepare for AP Cal?

Makes you look smarter and prepared for med school.

no it doesn't.
