I don't know how much someone could answer this question, but if you have a decent portfolio and write a good essay or whatever it is and show that you would work hard would they accept?

And by decent i mean exactly that; good but definitely not stellar

It is supposed to be selective but I never heard the story kid gotten totally rejected, means you’d list your preferences and you would be placed in second, third choices. if you are willing full pay, I would think they’d love to have you as long as you’d apply early, do the tedious CD requirements, proof sheet, rec letter, etc etc.
If you are asking for aids, it will be way harder.
Just for the safe side, apply some place that does not require portfolio as well.
Sometimes better to be a big fish in the small pond than the other way around, I still think that’s what done in my kid. He did Tuscany two summers ago and sort of beaten by older top magnets kids with loads of credentials, technique, talk the talk - wise.
It’s up to your passion, personality, goal, everything else. It might work wonder and you’d get influenced, motivated, pushed limits, all good things could happen.
Good luck, and remember, you are you, noone could judge you by what you can make at this point. That’s what schools are for, to teach you.

hey, now I remember your name, aren’t you the TASP/ SFAI/ ICP kid? I don’t know if your choice is the photo, there are any good second or third choices at MICA.
It seems $ is not your issue, then NYU, SVA, Parsons, RISD, SAIC, there is this kid Cody somebody ba–ck in portfolio thread did SAIC and I think he is this something I don’t know what because I have no idea what I’m seeing or feeling, haha.

hey thanks for the advice!
what about the pratt program? i thought that seemed better than sva or nyu but maybe i’m wrong about that?

My daughter attended precollege programs at Pratt and MassArt. Neither required a portfolio and I don’t think RISD’s did either the last time I looked. Their idea was you were there to create a portfolio not nec to have one already.

if it haven’t changed, NYer kids are sort of made to commute to 14 th street instead of live and work in Brooklyn, and Pratt used to ask deposit more than 200 bucks no matter what.
Other than that, yes, it is supposed to be good especially port prep.
