Difficulty of getting into CSU Fullerton

Im a senior in high school and I am going to apply to college in the Fall. I plan to major in Nursing and i was wondering how difficult it is to get into CSUF’s Direct Entry Nursing program. So, how difficult is it?

CSU Fullerton’s direct admit program as a Freshman has around a 4-5% acceptance for the direct entry.

The School of Nursing admits 35 students into the Traditional BSN (Entry-Level Freshmen) program each year.

Here is the minimum requirements to apply.

Selection Process
All applicants who apply through CSUmentor during the application period, to the correct Nursing major, will be reviewed for admission. Admission will be offered to the top applicants, based on the criteria below.
COMPLETION OF REQUIRED HIGH SCHOOL COURSES
Complete high school A-G coursework. Find out more about high school A-G coursesOpens in new window
COMPLETION OF HIGH SCHOOL CHEMISTRY AND BIOLOGY
Complete these courses each with a grade of “B” or higher (if AP then “C” or higher) by end of junior year in high school (11 grade).
COMPLETION OF EITHER THE SAT OR ACT EXAM
The minimum eligibility index for the program is: 4200 (SAT) or 1010 (ACT). The eligibility index is the combination of test scores and grade point averages.

Due to the competitiveness of all nursing programs, apply to several for better chances. Also select an alternate major in which you can take your Pre-req courses if admitted into CSU Fullerton but not the nursing school. You can then reapply after 2 years.

And by after 2 years, you mean during my sophomore year in college, right?

Yes, as a 2nd year at CSU Fullerton you can reapply for the Nursing program. See links for more information:

I am currently a first year nursing student at CSU Fullerton. I applied the very first day the CSU app opened and received my acceptance letter like the beginning of December. I had a weighted GPA of 4.3, ACT of 28, and SAT of 1750. At orientation, we were told that for 2016, the program accepted only 44 students out of an applicant pool of over 4000. Best of luck to you!
