20% (acceptance rate of College) - 13.6% (acceptance rate of Wharton) != "roughly 1% difference"

i wonder what % of the college acceptees is actually "i want to transfer into wharton"

in, we agree.

af, judging by how many actually do it's pretty low.

well, off to enjoy one of my last high school parties!

Read the previous posts thinkjose1. 20.2% includes SEAS and Nursing, both of which have acceptance rates above 30%.

In a letter to those who were accepted to SAS for the Class of 2009, it states that the acceptance rate was 15%. Wharton's, as previously mentioned, was 13.6%, therefore the difference is 1.4%.

15% was surely RD.

See Bern's Post:

"Overall Admissions Rate: 20.8% (3749/17982)
Early Decision Adm Rate: 34% (1140/3420)
Regular Decision Adm Rate: 16.7% (2579/15403)

Nursing Overall: 41.8% (123/294)
SEAS Overall: 32.0% (850/2656)
SAS Overall: 21.3% (2455/11474)
Wharton Overall: 13.6% (484/3558)

*the 15% for SAS I believe is regular decision"

I should have used 21.3% instead of 20%, but it isn't a 1% difference with Wharton nonetheless.

Wharton's harder to get into...there's no doubt about that. But I think most people would be suprised by how low the college's acceptance rate is. Most people think Wharton is the only selective school of Penn and it's simply not the case. Personally, I wish Penn would go to the common app and get an easy decrease in acceptance rate through that like the rest of the ivy's with the exception of one other I believe, but Stetson seems set on not allowing that. Oh well, we're #4 anyway.

inuendo there is no way that they are that close together. thinkjose's post seems more accurate. if 15% is the RD rate for the college you can imagine how much lower wharton's is.

no one is saying that the college isn't a good school. the fact is wharton has a very competitive pool (with stats pretty much equal to the rest of the university overall if i recall). sure wharton doesn't have the same volume of apps but applicants are competing for a FAR smaller number of spots, especially when you take ED out.

btw I got those #s direct from penn...and I believe wharton RD is 9%
