Difficulty of JHU

OK, I may be naive here, but college GPAs should not go past 4.0. In my experience related to college GPAs, an A/A+ is a 4.0. Are there schools out there that award extra for A+ grades, such as a 4.3?

If that is true, I’d be surprised to hear that – but then again I went to a college that only offered solid letter grades (A,B,C), did not have “+” / “-” grades, and in fact you could take any class Satisfactory / Not Satisfactory.

Just for info purposes, other education systems might, though not necessarily uniformly applied across all colleges even under the same system/city. Worthy to note for the attached, though individual classes may be awarded A+ (4.5), “All GPA values are capped at 4.0.”

AdmissionsDaniel, I know that both Cornell and Columbia award points for an A+. For example, an A+ at Columbia is a 4.3333 (yes, four decimal places) so it is possible to have above a 4.0.

I was not aware that Brown did not give +/-'s.

A+ = 4.3 – to me that is such an odd concept. It seems like extra credit. But I guess those Ivy League schools need to do that – JUST KIDDING.

Solid Letters is such a better system, in my opinion.

I recently read this article about a BME student with a 4.0 GPA from an elite university.

This girl also had a 36 ACT (on her first try), was a NM finalist, and was valedictorian of her hs class. Some people are just unreal.
