Difficulty of LS1? Hespenheide or Pires?

How difficult is LS1 in comparison to LS2/3/4 ? Also anyone have a recommendation on who to take it with (Hespenheide or Pires?)

lol there is already a same thread.!

ls1 is less difficult than the other ls courses.

i would recommend pires (i took ls1 with her), but then again, i have no idea what hespenheide is like.

From what I know, pires is harder, albeit, a better professor.

Hespenheide can be a bit boring but all you have to do get A in his class is to memorize his lecture note. ~ 15% gets A. His multiple choice exams are a bit tricky though.

ls1 is supposed to be the easiest of the 4 ls courses

hespenheide was a snore-fest. hes old fashioned and uses transparencies. he really needs to get with the times. going to lecture was not necessary. he has all the lecture notes online as well as outlines. when i took him he tag-teamed with some other lady prof. she was much more engaging and tried to get the class involved although it didnt work so well.

i think hespenheide's exam was just m/c and t/f (i could very well be wrong since its been a while). then the joint professor had to come in and ruin it by adding free response and fill in the blanks and matching (apparently a minority of students went to office hours, asked for it, and got it which is LAME).

Ugh, the matching was a ! But the sheet I hated most was the numbers sheet, where you have to remember how long ago plants moved onto land and all that fun ***. That was Hespenheide's idea.

I aced his class by going to lecture, taking notes, and using the notes he posted online as a review. I skipped a couple, but not too many lectures, but then again I was an eager freshman. Try not to use his online notes as a crutch. You also don't need to buy the book. I had to buy it anyway for LS2. I'm selling it, too, any takers?</p>

I'll even throw in my old LS1 midterms.

best time to take it?

hibiscuspink.. how much and what's the name of the book?

When you're an eager frosh and you'll actually go to class. But since you're an old crone now, take it when your schedule allows. Seriously, what kind of question is this?

hibiscuspink- i’ll buy it from u! i send you the private message also! check when u hav a chance!

Is Pires really that hard? Is it worth waiting for the winter quarter for someone else?
