I've been accepted to Pratt and now the nerves are kicking in about the toughness of the work. I would like to know what the experience is like, average grades, study time, etc. Just anything to help me prepare for whats ahead. Thanks.

If you’re asking about Pratt’s relative difficulty compared to Trinity, my roommate is in Pratt and his workload was about even with mine. (I’m in Trinity).

I don’t think you need to be that anxious. All the statistics suggest that Pratt’s a lot tougher than Trinity, but I think if you filter Trinity out so that you’re only looking at science majors, they’d probably be about even (I’m not saying that science students work harder/are smarter, just that the average grades in the common pre-med classes tend to be a bit lower). Another thing with science classes is that labs take substantial chunks of time out of your schedule.

Anyways, in the worse case, you can always transfer over to Trinity after first semester. All it takes is a little bit of paperwork, especially going from Pratt to Trinity. (Going the other direction is a bit more complicated, simply because you have to squeeze in Pratt’s rigidly-structured curriculum into the truncated amount of time remaining).

I second that, transferring from Pratt to Trinity is very common. The average Pratt students studies more than the average Trinity student, no doubt, but all the Pratt people I know kind of relish the greater workload. They seem pretty close-knit and because there is such a rigid curriculum they all take the same classes and help each other out.
