So I am a HS Senior thinking about coming to Rhodes next year. The only thing I'm concerned about is the difficulty of Rhodes. IF I were accepted, I would be is the bottom half of the admissions pool. I want to be challenged and I want to get a good education, but I also want to enjoy college. I don't want to be weighed down with so much school work that I'm not able to enjoy my college experience. I also don't want to be struggling to keep up. Do you think Rhodes is so hard that someone in the bottom of the admissions pool will be really struggling at Rhodes?

Hi, I’m a current Rhodes student (junior) so I can probably give you a pretty good answer. In my opinion college is supposed to be challenging like you said, and I don’t think you’ll struggle too much at whatever colleges you get into. At the same time, the way in which you’re able to choose you own classes and your own workload at Rhodes (and at most every school) allows you to make truly college as easy or as hard as you like. I strongly doubt that you are accepted into Rhodes then you will have a hard time keeping up, and if that is the case we have student tutors for almost every first and second course you’ll take. If you have any other questions feel free to message me and I’ll gladly help out.

Anyone else have any info here? It would be greatly appreciated!

Time to grow up and see if you can make it. No one knows how well they will fair in college, but you go in and work hard and see if you can keep pace. If not, then you can always transfer.

Making a 3.0 at Rhodes is extremely easy. Show up to class, turn in papers and assignments, study a few days for the tests and you can make a 3.0. Making a 3.5 gets fairly challenging and anything above that requires exponentially more dedication, smarts and time.

If you are accepted, then it means the admissions committee believes you are capable of succeeding. Believe in yourself.
