Hey, so I recently got accepted to the Sam Fox College of Art for communication design but am still a little bit aprehensive about my major.
I’m kind of torn between studying my intended major of communication design at the College of Art or switching over to a bioinformatics major at the College of Arts and Sciences, (I showed a lot of interest in the sciences on the CommonApp if that matters).
Anyways, I was just wondering how hard it would be for me to switch to the College of Arts of Sciences before 1st semester of freshmen year.
hey so I def. am not an expert as S just admitted but everything I have read about Wash Univ says its easy to transfer between the different schools. I do think if you are just admitted and go you probably have to do at least a semester in the school you were admitted to but than easy to transfer to any of the other schools. Instead of getting answers form CC you should just call the school and clarify before making decision to go.
First semester of freshmen year is probably similar courses/req no matter which of the schools you go to within wash univ. so I really don’t think big deal to start in the fox college of art and than transfer.
Not sure how helpful this is, but when I toured wash u, my tour guide said that he had applied to the college of arts and sciences but switched to engineering right away, so it seems doable.
Hi, current freshman here and Its quite easy to switch schools, especially between those two. Also, you are free to second major across schools (very doable) and u’'ll be taking the same courses anyways which by the way does not require any approval. I wouldn’t sweat over it.
