I've heard that the UC schools are getting harder and harder to get into. I guess this should have been "duh" to me, but only now has this really begun to scare me. I have a 2200 SAT, a 33 ACT, a 3.91 unweighted and a 4.08 weighted (as of now), and extracurriculars ranging from piano, religious activities, library volunteer work, and web design. My essays were good, but not great (as in I don't think they were particularly impressive). My intended major is economics except for UCSC, where my major is computer science. I mean, I don't think any of this stands out as bad, but with the increased competition, especially with the influx of foreign students and the increasing competition among Californian kids (I'm Californian), I feel so average. I've pretty much written off Cal, UCLA, and even UCSD. I'm not even sure about UCD and UCSB. Am I being too hard on myself, or is my analysis truthful to the facts? And just how good are my chances of getting into each UC school based on this information?

You’re being incredibly hard on yourself and you should stop that. A 2200 is definitely enough for guaranteed admission in pretty much every UC but UCB (and UCLA can be a bit finnicky). You are applying to a competitive major but you’re a very competitive student (as far as stats go). UCSD and all the others? You’re set. Calm down, deep breaths, read some stoic texts and realize you can’t DO ANYTHING for the next three months so there’s no point in worrying, and smile. You’re done, you’ll do great.

You can get into UCLA and UCB idk what ur smoking breh

Unless you’re going for some kind of engineering, you’ll definitely get into berkeley and ucla

My son applied five years ago–super competitive year. GPA: 4.4 weighted, 3.8 unweighted. SAT: 2250 and an 800 on his Spanish and English subject tests. Great extracurriculars. He did NOT get into Cal or UCLA, got into UCSD, Davis and UCSB.

You have awesome chances don’t even sweat it. LA and Berkeley are sometimes unpredictable but in the end, there’s nothing you can do. Just relax and don’t think about it until march. I’m an applicant to all the exact same UCs and I have worse stats and I’m just lettin the year float by until I get my answers hahaha best of luck! I’m sure you’ll end up somewhere great!
