Ahh. I have terrible vision. Nearsighted. And I can't wear contacts for the life of me. It kinda runs in my family so it's not just me being pathetic. So I'm stuck wearing glasses until my mid-twenties when my eyes stop changing and I can get laser surgery.

Does anyone else have this problem, or am I just very unlucky?

Why can't you wear contacts? Because you can't get them in or out?

I had like a little class thing on how to do it. They wouldn't let me go home until I got them in and out twice. It was pretty easy for me. Now it takes like... no time to do it and I've only had them for two weeks.

I couldn't wear contacts for the longest time because of my astigmatism in my left eye. They are always coming out with new technology; maybe someday you will be able to wear contacts. Anyways, I think glasses are awesome. I wear mine more than I wear my contacts. So, just wear glasses and be proud! They make you look smarter anyways.

Oh ya bro I have that astigmatism thing too...I don't mind wearing glasses that much...it does hurt my athletic credibility sometimes and its a pain while swimming.

Well, still no solution to my problem, but I didn't expect there to be. I've got astigmatism, narrow eyes and unusually strong eyelids according to my optometrist. So, no hope for me I guess.

A guy in my class claims that wearing contacts actually worsened his vision. I don't know the details behind his situation though, and whether it was sanitary issues, or the type of contacts, etc.

Contacts are such a life saver; but I love my glasses, too. I got contacts during the summer before 7th grade, and I wore them for a week, until my eyes began rejecting them. I stopped wearing them until Freshman year when my eyes could fully tolerate them. Now I wear them all the time, except while I'm at home because I'm extremely paranoid and I feel like I need to let my eyes "breathe" every once in a while. .

I so LOVE my contacts! I should have gotten them earlier.

For one, I swim and I was not going to get prescription goggles- talk about lame compared to swedish or aquabalde goggles. Anyway, so I used to swim in a hazy fog for months, then I decided that it was ridiculous and finally conviced my parents to let me try contacts. Eventually I got them, and I did have a little 'learn to put on and take off your contacts' thing too.

Turns out I have a little astigmatism, but there a contacts for that. Since mine is not very pronounced, I used to wear a different presciption in each eye. Now, I've stopped since my astigmatism isn't much of a problem anymore.

About that letting your eyes "breathe" thing- my optometrist said that I shouldn't over wear my contacts since capillaries? can grow over your cornea and damage your vision. This happens when your eyes are deprived of oxygen. Anyway, I decided to get hydraclear, since that allows more oxygen to get to your eyes.

I'm definitely one of those stupid people that leaves their contacts in too long. I don't usually wear them overnight a lot, but I will occasionally.

:) I know what you mean, Ordi.d.ice. That, and the fact that balls (soccer balls, those squishy foam balls used in dodge-ball, etc.) have a strange attraction to my face...
