UCLA
UCB
UCD
UCSD
UCI

Does anyone know if any of the above UCs much harder than the others in terms of civil engineering? I know cal is ranked way above the others but is their program proportionally more difficult?

UCB/UCLA/UCSD all have stricter engineering degree requirements than UCI/UCD.

well i mean if i take a class at cal and then take the exact same class at davis, is it going to be significantly harder?

im concerned because i didn't really have a very good work ethic in high school and when i get to college i might get screwed over.

To begin with, engineering is a demanding major, so you better develop some good study habits before you get to college.

As far as difficulty goes, any decent program will teach pretty much the same material. They often use the same textbooks. But the main difference might be the talent level of the other students. This more selective the school the higher the proportion of very smart students. This might make it harder to stay near the good end of the grading curve.

Yes, it will be harder to take an engineering class at UCB/UCLA than at UCD because of the caliber of competition... As a matter of fact, Computer Science majors at UCLA often take the course-equivalent of CS 111: Operating Systems Principles at UCI because they get better grades than if they took the class at UCLA, where it is known as the hardest course in the major. It was recently announced that the UCLA CS Department is discouraging its students from taking their courses at lower UCs by denying them course credit.
