I'm a junior trying to get a good feel for what I want next year when applying. I want to attend a school with a really good tech/computer program as well as a good art program, specifically digital art. What I would really love to go into is video game design, but from what I understand getting a video game design degree is kind of a gimmick major most of the time, with no real marketable skill because it doesn't focus on one particular aspect of game design. I was, however, very interested in DigiPen until I realized that it didn't have dorms, which would make it basically impossible for me to attend.

I'd like to be able to either major in some sort of digital art program or maybe major in computer science and minor in an art. I'm a straight A student and I'm also attending CMU's Game Academy this summer which should hopefully at least somewhat bolster my resume. I'm interested in both Brown and CMU, but both are highly competitive (obviously) and expensive, and probably won't offer me a whole lot of aid.

My daughter will go to college next year. She like art, specifically digital art. She is straight A student. sat 2000. She is interested in SVA computer Art major. After some job research, it seems computer science major+ digital art minor is a better combination. Am I right? stony brook university has this combination major. Anyone know the program?

Those interested in games, inventing or designing…

The University of Southern California has two programs that might interest you. One is a major in the Viterbi School of Engineering. The major is Computer Science/Games. Check out the YouTube video from the school about the companies who come to see the students’ work.

Another program which would challenge your imagination is the Interactive Entertainment major in the USC School of Cinematic Arts. This involves more of your artistic and design skills. The new CSA complex is now completed, a $100 million dollar complex.
